Run Run Run

Happy New Year!!

New year new me right?? Nope, that’s not realistic! I am all for self improvement and becoming a better you, however to make multiple major life changes once a year and maintain them is setting your self up for failure. Small changes over the courise of the year or even multiple years will lead to the big changes people seek this time of year. It will take work and time but it will pay off.

Last year my vague goal was to be more active. I found small ways to move more at school and then this summer jumped full force into hiking. 20170101_145154This year I joined ‘Run the Year 2017’ I will over the course of this year run 2017 miles. It breaks down to 5.5 miles everyday. Being able to run 5 miles is something I’ve had to work up to.  I started running in october and could barely run (it was very very slow) for 30 minutes. I could hike for hours but running was totally different. I was determined and have been fairly consistent with it and am now able to run over 6 miles! The thought of doing something like this last year would have been crazy for me but here I am this year!

I’m not gonna lie 5.5 EVERYDAY will be challenging. My job, kids, the weather (the high today is 3° F) and life in general but I will make the time and do the best I can. There will be some days I fall short but I’m doing better than I was last year at this time and that counts for something.

So keep your heads up, make those small steps towards your better you and Happy New Year!
